About the Fellowship:
VCI’s Fellowship educates the next generation of institutional grade asset managers in Venture Capital, Private Equity + Impact Investing.
As supporters of historically underrepresented venture capital (VC) and private equity (PE) fund managers over the last decade, we know their pain points around getting access to investors that understand their value proposition.
That is why we’ve created an education platform and support network for emerging managers that has graduated 57 General Partners (GPs) over the past 3 years. Without this support, emerging managers are slowed down or prevented from making timely investments into diverse startup founders that are tapped into local and regional markets. Our alumni are all committed to impactful investments that create jobs, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and inclusive sustainability.
Many historically underrepresented GPs have their finger on the pulse of opportunities that many institutional investors have overlooked.
Institutional investors see the opportunity to partner with VC Include as a built-in force multiplier to their investment strategy, as they begin to understand the huge opportunity to identify and invest in high growth, high potential diverse founders.
Before Applying:
Read through the Fellowship Eligibility Criteria and FAQ pages before contacting the VCI Team with any questions, comments, or concerns.
Make sure that you have the following documents ready, and easily accessible to upload:
Resume, bio, and headshot for each GP planning on participating.
The Fund's pitch deck or executive summary.
You will need a SM Apply account to apply to the Fellowship.
If you have an SM Apply Account, simply log in using your existing credentials.
If you do not have an SM Apply Account, create one by clicking the "Register" button in the top right corner of the page. It’s important to note that when creating an account, ensure you use a good contact email address you check often.
Application Timeline:
Part 1:
Part 1 of the application opened at 12:01am PT on Friday, February 16th, 2024.
The deadline to submit Part 1 is 11:59 pm PT on Monday, March 4th, 2024.UPDATE: The submission deadline has now been extended to Friday, March 8 2024 at 11:59 pm PT.Once Part 1 of the application closes, submitted applications will be reviewed and assessed.
All applicants will be notified of their status by Wednesday, March 20th, 2024.
Part 2 (to be completed by those selected as Semi-Finalists):
Part 2 of the application will open to selected applicants on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024.
The deadline for Semi-Finalists to submit Part 2 of the application is 11:59 pm PT on Monday, April 1st, 2024.
Once Part 2 of the application closes, Semi-Finalist applications will undergo a second review process.
Finalist Decisions:
Semi-finalists will be notified of their status by Friday, April 26th, 2024.
About the Application:
If selected, the GPs in the fund are the only people who will be participating in the VCI Fellowship and attending related in-person events.
Non-GPs (assistants/admins, analysts, etc.) are not eligible to participate.
Multi-GP Funds:
If the Fund you are representing during the application has multiple GPs, each GP will need to fill out their own individual section.
The person who starts the application will fill out the section titled “Step 2: Solo + Primary GP Information”.
Each additional Fund GP who is planning on participating fully in the Fellowship will need to fill out an “Application Section for xx Additional Partner GP” section.
The terms “2nd, 3rd, and 4th” in the title are just to help identify the additional GPs - it has no bearing on the seniority of those GPs.
While this application is not timed, it has been set up to take between 45 and 60 minutes to complete in one sitting (including review time). The application can be paused, saved, and returned to at a later time for completion.
